Our Mission

To improve the health of the Veterans we serve by providing primary care, specialty care, extended care and related social support services in an integrated healthcare delivery system.

Our Vision

The Veterans Health Administration will continue to be the benchmark of excellence and value in health care and benefits by providing exemplary services that are both patient centered and evidence based.

This care will be delivered by engaged, collaborative teams in an integrated environment that supports learning, discovery and continuous improvement.

It will emphasize prevention and population health and contribute to the nation’s well-being through education, research and service in National emergencies.”

I chose the mission and vision statement of the Marion, IL VA because I hope to work within that same system, as an administrator, once I graduate from SIUC’s Healthcare Management program.  I believe both statements are effective because not only are they concise, they also cover a wide scope of components that are involved with Veteran healthcare.  In their mission statement, it is clear that they understand the importance of on-going and extended care for Veterans as well as informing the reader that their facility is a part of an larger, integrated system.  The tone of the vision statement is confident which conveys a sense of pride in their work.  There is also an overall theme of continuing improvement, which lets the reader know they are far from stagnant when it comes to innovation and changing their tactics along with national trends.  If I could describe both statements in one word, it would be solid.
